Jakarta – Every parliamentary institution in Indonesia should be regulated by its own rules and regulations so that its performance and supervision are more certain.
Deputy Chairperson of the House of Representatives, Fahri Hamzah, said that currently the DPR, MPR, DPRD and DPD institutions are regulated in Law No. 2/2018 concerning MD3.
“In order to comply with the Constitution, each representative institution is regulated by a special law, so it is not combined because it is a mandate from the Constitution,” Fahri said in a discussion at the Parliament Building on Tuesday (6/18) 2019).
“So, the institution is not merged one by one, the MPR is also the same, the DPD is also like that. DPRD because now there are local government laws, where is the tendency,” Fahri added.
Fahri suggested that if the government wants to make the DPRD stronger, then a special law on DPRD must also be made. So that the supervision in the DPRD is really carried out. If the current rules are maintained, according to Fahri, supervision by Parliament in the regions is not strong. As a result, the KPR must carry out that role to make it runny .
“The stronger the DPRD, the stronger the controlled area in the use of state finances and we will submit this draft later,” Fahri said.
Fahri added, his party also proposed that the DPD be strengthened. Strengthening the institution, according to Fahri, meant ending the DPD’s anomaly. That is, the members of the institution must be given strengthened authority.
“We have received a draft from the DPD and if it is agreed upon, the package will be fought for,” said Fahri.
