Jambi – National Student Championship (National Championship) Paddle which will be held at Lake Sipin, Jambi City, Jambi Province, on July 24-28 2019, at the same time will be used to promote Jambi City tourism that is typical of the lake. Through the national scale paddle championship, Lake Sipin tourism object is expected to be better known by domestic tourists who attend the National Championship event .
“National Student Paddle National Championship on Lake Sipin has great potential to attract interest in national and regional Sumatra tourists to Jambi City. Hundreds of rowing athletes from 25 provinces in Indonesia are planned to follow the paddle championship. “The presence of rowing athletes from all corners of the archipelago will be a momentum to promote Jambi tourism,” Jambi Governor Fachrori Umar said when reviewing the preparation for the construction of facilities and infrastructures at the National Student Paddle Paddle in Lake Sipin, Jambi City, Tuesday (11/06/2019).
According to Fachrori Umar, National Student Championship Paddle National at Lake Sipin, Jambi City became one of the starting points for the Jambi City Government and City Government (Pemkot) to develop and utilize superior tourist destinations. Lake Sipin, which has been a water reservoir area, will also be used as a tourist destination and sports facility for the Jambi community.
“We can see, Lake Sipin is now getting better organized. Then around this lake there is a jogging track (sports lane). In addition, around Lake Sipin there are now more and more shops where the Jambi community serves culinary and souvenirs. Lake Sipin must be promoted continuously. One of the momentum of the promotion was the implementation of the National Student Paddle National Championship later, “he said.
Fachrori Umar hoped that the people of Jambi could benefit from the implementation of a national scale event , National Student Paddle National Championship at Lake Sipin, Jambi City. The implementation of national level sports is expected to be able to be utilized by Jambi community members to increase income. Then hoteliers, culinary, transportation and other services are also expected to be able to reap the benefits of the national sporting event.
“I hope, the implementation of the National Student Paddle National Championship in Lake Sipin can have a positive impact on the people of Jambi, especially the people who are around Lake Sipin. One of the positive impacts is the increasing economy of the Jambi community,” he said.
Ready to be Held
Fachrori Umar assessed the preparation of the National Student Paddle National Championship in Lake Sipin, Jambi City was almost finished. Construction of all the facilities needed for the paddle championship is almost complete. So the national rowing championship is planned to be opened by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is ready to be held.
“I have seen the extent of our readiness to implement the National Paddle National Championship on July 24-28 2019, and the event is ready to be held,” he said.
According to Fachrori Umar, the National Student Paddle Paddle National Arena in Lake Sipin, Jambi City was ready 100 percent. The path is well prepared, starting from the floating dock starting point to finish point is complete.
“I am optimistic that the National Student Paddle National Championship will be successful because all facilities have been well prepared. We have seen it together, there are only a few that need to be improved, namely tidying up the lack of unfinished facilities in several lake locations,” he said.
According to Fachrori Umar, one of the obstacles that has not yet been completed has been preparing the National Lake Sipin Student Paddle National Championship in Jambi, namely the existence of community floating fish cages on the right and left sides of the race track.
“We are trying to ask the public to temporarily move the floating cages, because the existence of floating cages will certainly reduce the beauty of the race arena,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Jambi Province Youth Sports Agency, Wahyuddin said, the paddle championship in Lake Sipin in Jambi City competed 14 branches. Among them are rowing, cano, kayak, indooor rowing machine ergometer. The number of rowing athletes who are estimated to follow the paddle championship is around 161 people from 25 student paddle training centers throughout Indonesia.
“The central government-funded rowing team followed the paddle championship from 12 regions. While some regional rowing teams that participated in the rowing championship were financed by their respective regional governments, “he said.
Explained, the Jambi Provincial Government was determined to maintain the title of general champion in the paddle championship in Jambi City. In the paddle championship in Bau Bau, Southeast Sulawesi last year, the Jambi Province rowing team won the overall championship.
