Jakarta – Former Kabais TNI Rear Admiral TNI (Ret.) Soleman B Ponto asked the National Police to speed up the handling of treason cases. This he considered important so that the cases being handled were not protracted and politicized.
“The faster it gets better, because everything will be open in court. Is it engineered or not? If it is proven, then it will go to jail if it is not proven. It is the choice,” Soleman said in Jakarta, Monday (10 / 6).
At least five people have been charged with treason by the police. Some of them were former military and police officials, namely, former Danjen Kopassus Soenarko, former Pangkostrad Kivlan Zen and later the former Metro Jaya Regional Police Chief Sofjan Jacoeb who had not been arrested.
Soleman asked for the existence of former high-ranking TNI and Polri officials who were suspected of treason not to be interpreted by the public that there was also a similar tendency at the active officer level.
“In the history of this republic, every rebel, treason, must have been bullied by the TNI. Whereas those who were crossed were friends in the military. So don’t ever think the army or officers are actively following in their footsteps,” explained Soleman.
According to him, the retired TNI / Polri who were suspected of treason was not unusual. Because they are no longer bound by service and have become civilians. They have their own choices and are aware of the consequences.
Defense observer Salim Said did not want to give an opinion about the retired TNI / Polri who were suspected of treason. Serious accusations because they are related to rebellion.
Salim said that the government must provide a related explanation, “It is better for reporters to ask the government, why are these people like that? Only then do experts assess the explanation from the government,” Salim said.
