Medan – A total of five people from 30 people were killed in a fire at a gas lighters factory (fountain) on Jalan Tengku Amir Hamzah, Sambirejo Village, Binjai District, Langkat Regency, were children.
Based on a letter from the Sambirejo Village, Binjai Subdistrict, the five children were respectively, Pinja and Sasa, children of Yunita Sari, residents of Sambirejo Gang Mirat; Juna and Bisma are children from Desi, residents of Sambirejo and Sifah, children of Fitri, residents of Sambirejo.
However, in the circular it was not mentioned the age of the five children. Because the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Langkat indeed stated that the death toll was 30 people, five of them children.
“After all our members went down, all of them were studied, 30 people. The details are 5 children, the rest are adults,” said Head of BPBD Langkat, Irwan Syahri.
He said, the victims were generally women and were workers in the home industry making gas lighters. In addition, there were several children who were also victims because they joined their mothers to work.
Sofyan, one of the families of the victims of the fire accident, was devastated. This man could not hide the look of sadness on his face. He must be abandoned by his wife and his favorite daughter. Both of them were killed baked in the factory.
“I was just right when there was an event. So when I wanted to take a break, my friend called. I asked my wife to go home or not. I said not yet. Apparently my friend said the factory was on fire,” Sofyan said.
Sofyan immediately rushed over. He managed to break into the fire area. But what he witnessed was a pile of bodies in the room. He also saw the body of his wife Yuli Fitriana and her son Syifa.
“My son’s elementary school class. He returned to school today directly to the manufacturer. Because we do not have one at home,” Sofyan said tearfully.
“My wife has been working there for three years,” Sofyan said as he passed into the Bhayangkara Hospital.
