Dongguan – A Ferrari car that is valued at more than US $ 125,000 or around Rp. 1.7 billion (exchange rate of Rp. 14,325) will be auctioned at a very cheap price.
The Ferrari 599 sports car resides in a striking red color, offered through auctions in China starting next week, with an initial price of only US $ 245.
This vehicle was confiscated by the police for being involved in a traffic accident. The police later found out that the vehicle was not registered in the system and did not have insurance.
The authorities subsequently did not allow the vehicle to be sold or registered again in China. This means that this luxury car cannot be legally driven at all in that country.
The court in Dongguan city, China, then decided to auction the Ferrari 599 at a price of only Rp 3.5 million. The reason, they see it only as scrap metal because it does not have complete legality.
“There is no information about this vehicle in the vehicle management office, so it is not transferable and cannot be driven,” said a Dongguan Court spokesman.
“That is why the price is very cheap. We see it only as scrap metal. The evaluation results decide the value of the vehicle is only 2,430 RMB or around US $ 350. We then offer a 30 percent discount for the initial auction price.”
Unfortunately, for anyone who buys the car, they also have to pay an additional fee of 10,000 RMB or US $ 1450 to cover parking penalties that have not been paid since the vehicle was confiscated.
However, there is no clear information whether foreign buyers can export the car and register it in another country.
